The Good Brothers original line-up of Bruce, Brian and Larry Good continue to deliver a world-class show that features their trademark sibling harmonies. This legendary group are the recipients of eight Juno awards for Best Country Group and headlined gigs at Massey Hall, Roy Thompson Hall, The National Art Centre and performed countless shows at L.A.'s Universal Amphitheatre with (their mentor) Gordon Lightfoot.

The Good Brothers are inductees into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame and the North American Country Music Hall of Fame, and received two nominations for Country Group and Roots Artist of the year at the Canadian Country Music Awards.

They have gained a worldwide audience over the course of their accomplished career. Their acclaimed show encompasses country, bluegrass, folk and the occasional selection from their rock and roll songbook.

OTHER NOTABLE INFO: The first show of their career (Bruce & Brian Good) was with James Aykroyd in the group was at Maple Leaf Gardens with Grand Funk Railroad. Then came the cross Canada tour on the outrageous Festival Express with such bands as The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Ian & Sylvia and The Band, to name a few. With a little help from friends The Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane, they recorded their first album on Columbia records. Gigs at San Francisco's famed Fillmore West and L.A.'s Troubadour and in Northern California with The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service were monumental.

Brian and Bruce Good joined forces with their younger brother Larry in 1973 and performed their first gig was the legendary Toronto club The Riverboat, on May 14, 1974. It wasn't long, before The Good Brothers were packing Toronto's fabled El Mocambo five nights a week; breaking bar records, attendance records and exhausting determined dancers. The Good Brothers self-titled debut album went double gold and in 2003 their album titled "One True Thing" was voted Canada's number one Independent Album of the Year and 2017 saw the release of the brand-new album titled, Wide Awake Dreamin’

Our Story:

(photo above by Corey Katz)

Cape Breton contractor and entrepreneur, Kevin Colford, purchased the historic former Sacred Heart Church in 2018 with a dream of turning it into a jaw dropping multi-functional venue for celebration, entertainment, and hospitality. Fast forward to 2021, and he’s ready to do just that. Named Sacred Heart Downtown as a tribute to the rich history of the former parish, and the community that birthed and cared for the building for over a century.

Preserving the 140 year old 19th century architecture and applying some aesthetic upgrades, the ballroom is a royal space available to weddings, dinners, dances, live music & entertainment, corporate functions, dinner theatre, and functions of all kinds. Its purpose limited only by the occupants imagination.

The guiding philosophy of Sacred Heart? A passion for care. Whether you are headlining, working, or attending one of our events, we are here to take care of you. Every inch of our space has been reimagined to intuitively meet the largest and smallest needs of any occasion. From the industry standard prep room for our caterers, to the private bathroom reserved for the bride on her special day, to the phone charging stations at our coat check, we’ve thought of it all so you don’t have to.

In the short time we’ve been open, Sacred Heart Downtown has had the pleasure of hosting weddings, receptions, a sold out dinner theatre, and the 2021 ECMA’s, to name a few.

Located in Downtown Sydney, Nova Scotia
